Inner fire is the energetic driving force behind outer success and inner well-being. It's the powerful energy of all the successful leaders, creators, entrepreneurs, marketers, athletes, speakers, and musicians of the world. Their inner fire is what moves and inspires us—making them magnetically attractive. Inner fire is one of the key ingredients to a good life, being authentic, speaking your truth, and living life to the fullest.
Your education, skills, knowledge, wisdom and actions lack power without your inner fire. People who dim and contain their inner fire, wait for permission from others, or hold back from being who they truly are will never feel fully alive or be able to create what they deeply desire.
This was my everyday life until I healed and reignited my fire. Only a small fraction of myself showed up in my expression, I was unable to bring out more of myself even though I felt that I had more to bring, and feeling stuck, heavy, and depressed was normal. Speaking my truth, standing up for what I believed in, and moving towards my goals was damn near impossible. Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD, high IQ, and high sensitivity, I was often "too much" in some kind of way. I dimmed my light and contained my fire a bit more every time that happened. Eventually I was great at not being too much. My inner fire was always dimmed and contained—I didn't even have to think about it. This manifests as deep and chronic tension in tissues, muscles and fascia all around the body. It's like being caged in a suit of armor. Protected, but slow, heavy, and unable to move freely. Without inner fire, our actions lack potency—and our voices sound hollow, incomplete. Not only do we suffer our lack of power and potency, but we're also deeply frustrated from sensing it's inner presence while being unable to let it through. In some, this becomes a shadow projection. Then we have negative perceptions of people who shine their light and have access to their life force energy. This deepens their subconscious suppression—and over time their struggles compound. Containing the inner fire takes a lot of energy—it's draining. This is why people who are conditioned this way often feel slow, tired, stuck, heavy and even depressed.
We dim our inner fire because we are conditioned to do so during childhood and our formative years. Long before we reach adulthood it has become a deep subconscious survival pattern. Some experienced a loss of connection too many times when their life force was moving through them. Parents, family members, and schools forcing them to contain their inner fire. The loss of connection ranges from a cold sense of disapproval to verbal and physical abuse—all stunting the development of power and expression in the little human. Another possibility is hurting others, hurting themselves, or seeing others hurt themselves or others when the energy runs high, leading to negative associations and beliefs about their own inner fire and power. Other factors such as social norms and culture in the particular place they grow up in regarding intensity, passion, healthy anger, setting boundaries, high or big energy and authentic expression play a part in this too. Growing up in Sweden I was often taught directly or indirectly that "being too much" in any way was bad and unappreciated. Our culture often pride itself on being "just right".
Inner fire is essential to inner well-being, personal power, and creating the life you’re here to live. It is dynamic life force energy you feel in your body—especially the chest. Words that point to the experience of inner fire: aliveness, potency, vibrancy, power, strength, dynamism, vitality. Inner fire grants you the power in life and relationships to speak your truth and protect yourself and those you love from harm and negativity. It is fuel for empowered action in alignment with your goals and values. With inner fire, you show up fully — for what matters most, in the short and precious time you have.
Sit down somewhere quiet. Bring awareness to yourself. How does it feel in the body and mind when you're dimming your light and containing your inner fire? Contracted? Tense? Weak? Heavy? Like you have very little room to breathe or be you? Note the words that fit your experience and remember them as a reference point for the future.
Give yourself full permission to celebrate something about you. Let it be small. Let it be sincere. Let it matter. Let it be unconditional and go as hard as you can.
Internally celebrate yourself. Let it light up your chest. Feel good about yourself. This feeling is your inner fire.
Generate more energy with your intention - let the feeling expand. Claim it as yours! Enjoy your inner fire, aliveness and power. Be playful. Don't try to do it right. Don't think about it too much - feel it. Just use your intention to fuel it — and let go of how you think it should look or feel.
If you can't feel it, try again some other time. Most helpful is having another person who has their inner fire burning with you as you do this. Then your system can blueprint theirs and activate yours.
Remember the words from step 2 and compare what you felt then with the feeling of the inner fire energy in your chest now. You can go back and forth between fire and no fire. Noticing the contrast will increase your awareness of your inner state of being and supports your inner mastery. The more clearly you can feel the contrast, the more quickly you’ll recognize when you’re shrinking — and the faster you can reignite yourself.
