I want to illustrate a problem for you that we're all facing - and that the quicker you learn what I am about to tell you, the better your life will be. It doesn't matter how much money you've made, how much you have succeeded externally, or how much you've worked on improving and developing yourself. This problem likely affects you, too.
What's the reason you opened up this blog post in the first place? You're likely: successful on the outside but struggling to feel well on the inside.
People spend years and sometimes even their entire lifetime looking for well-being in the wrong places - wasting their time and energy on the wrong things.
We live in a world where success is worshipped, but well-being is misunderstood. Most people are chasing safety, peace, and love through performance—and it’s not working.
They meticulously craft a life they believe will bring peace, safety, joy, and connection, only to find themselves in a gilded cage, feeling more lost than ever. The executive might have a beautiful home but lies awake at night, anxiety churning in their stomach. The social media star might project an image of perfect happiness, but inside, they're battling constant self-doubt. It's like building a magnificent ship, only to realize it's sailing in circles.
Or like what happened to myself: after a decade of spiritual practice and personal development, I still felt something was missing... No matter how good my performance was, praise I got or money I had in the bank account, I still felt unsafe, unhappy and not good enough.
The truth is: many successful and high-achieving people are masters of their external world, but still just scratching the surface when it comes to inner well-being. That is why in this day and age, you need to be a well-being master - master of the internal and the external.
What does a well-being master look like?
They have an inner compass that swiftly guides them back to center, no matter what life throws their way.
They experience a profound sense of peace and joy that isn't dependent on external circumstances.
They navigate challenges with resilience and grace, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth.
They cultivate deep, authentic connections that nourish their soul.
It's a state of thriving, not just surviving.
By becoming a well-being master, you unlock the door to a life of genuine fulfillment. You'll experience deeper love in your relationships, unlock your full creative potential, and discover a sense of purpose that lights you up from the inside out. You'll no longer be a victim of your circumstances but the architect of your own inner world.
Sometimes it looks like we've come quite far because there's so many tools available to us today. Meditation, mindfulness, breath work, mindset practices, journaling, modern psychology, personal development, philosophies and wisdom from all around the world from thousands of years, psychedelics, and many more.
Many of us think that we've gained quite the tool belt and learned how to deal with a lot. Most of us have had plenty of moments and periods of well-being, but they all fade, and we don't know how to get back there. We're still bracing for impact, feeling unsafe, and most of all, still don't know how to get back to well-being quickly.
Even the very successful, multi-millionaires who've done years and years of hard work on their beliefs, psychology, mindset, habits, etc., to create their success - most are still just scratching the surface when it comes to inner well-being.
So, what do we need to create a world full of successful and brilliant people who are also well-being masters?
That's why I propose Well-being Mastery: a framework emphasizing inner and external success.
Well-being Mastery is comprised of three essential components:
Inner Maps: Navigating Inward
Embodied Awareness: Direct Experience
Resourcing Connection: Togetherness
Good maps help us navigate our inner experiences and come back to well-being. It is not just knowledge and intellectual understanding of our inner worlds and experiences. They are practical and help you make sense of what's happening in your direct experience.
The next concept is about being present and bringing awareness to the body. It's not just in our minds and thoughts that our pain and suffering lies, but in the deep emotional wounds of relational ruptures and unmet needs that are stored in the body. Remember in the beginning of this text where I explained that problem that we all face? I practiced mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and worked on my mindset and beliefs for over a decade. It was almost next to impossible for me to accept what was going on inside of me and didn't even know what real well-being felt like. I needed resourcing connection before I could connect with my body and face my deeper wounds.
Human beings have deep needs for connection, and we actually empower and resource each other when we come together in the right ways - making each other feel seen, safe, interconnected, empowered, allowed to be as we are, etc. If you want to learn more about that, you can research the attachment system, the nervous system, mirror neurons, and the developmental needs of children. When we use our maps, and learn how to bring awareness to our bodies' present moment experiences and what needs our love and attention to heal, and come together to do it, that is when we have the most power to heal, transform, and be in well-being more frequently, steadily, and for longer periods of time.
When we know what well-being is and is not in contrast of our experience, not just as a concept or intellectual understanding, but what it feels like in our direct perception, then the path is set.
At the time of writing this, I can confidently say that well-being is my baseline. Well-being keeps deepening and expanding as I continue to practice the three essential components of well-being mastery. I'm not perfect, but it gets easier and easier finding my way back to centre if I lose my balance.
That's Well-being Mastery in a nutshell: the use of good maps for our inner worlds and deep mind-body awareness in connection.
